Torc Mountain 2018
The four hour walk as part of Mental Health Week 2018, took the students from the base of the Waterfall at Torc in Killarney to the top of Top Mountain, a 5km climb of 535m (1755ft) in just over 2 hours. Over the 5km we experienced every weather from beautiful sunshine to driving wind and rain at the top. After a quick bite to eat in the shelter from the wind it was back down to the warmth and sunshine. Unfortunately no spectacular views from the top this year, maybe next time…
‘Don’t miss out on your chance for a FREE blood pressure check with an Irish Heart Foundation Nurse when the Mobile Health Unit visits Hazelwood College, Tuesday 9th October from 10am -4pm’
On the day we will have two nurses available on the mobile health unit to provide free Blood Pressure Checks and heart health information. The one-to-one advice offered by the nurse is a vital part of this check. Each person receives a personal record card with their results and in the event of any abnormal results is advised to follow up with their GP. High blood pressure which is a major cause of stroke and heart attack is one of the most prevalent risk factors in the population and one which once identified is manageable, thereby reducing risk. A blood pressure check is a simple, quick and non-invasive test that could prove life-saving. The current sponsor of the mobile health unit is Eurospar.
The Mobile Health Unit is open to all members of the public and will be parked outside the school.

Congratulations and well done to the boys U 15 footballers in a great performance and a comprehensive win over Beara Community College (6-10 to 1-14) in the first round of the Munster Colleges
