Michael Wins Kerry’s Finest!

The Ring of Kerry has more to offer than just breathtaking scenery, as a group of 35 hill and lowland farmers have set up a new business called ‘Ring of Kerry Quality Lamb’. They produce high quality ‘spring lamb’ twelve months all year round and sell directly to households, restaurants and hotels. Their products are fully traceable and Bord Bia Quality Assured. Ring of Kerry Lamb was featured recently in RTE’s Home Chef TV series by celebrity chef Nevin Maguire and The Farmer’s Journal newspaper. The public were invited to submit a recipe using Ring of Kerry Quality Lamb products. Eager Home Economics students in Hazelwood College rose to the challenge and entered with great gusto. Michael Fitzgerald a 1st year student submitted his own recipe for Spicy Lamb Tagine, which was chosen from hundreds of entries throughout the country. His eagerly anticipated prize was delivered to the school by Denis Carroll one of the successful farmers involved in this innovative enterprise on Thursday 3rd May. Michael’s prize consisted of an extremely generous hamper of Kerry Lamb products worth €100. His Home Economics teacher Ms. Daly was thrilled with Michael’s recent success.
