SciFest 2016

Hazelwood College students recently attended the SciFest science fair hosted by Limerick Institute of Technology. Here are some photos from the day.

Picture a: Hazelwood College Transition Year students (from left to right) Aoife Kiely, Eoin Donegan, Laura O’Connell pictured above with their project, “To investigate whether e – cigarettes are beneficial after quitting regular cigarettes”. The three students entered their project for SciFest, which is a series of one-day science fairs for second-level students hosted locally in schools and regional level in third level colleges.

Their project set out to investigate the speeding up of the defrosting process of frozen foods.

Picture g Hazelwood College students Roisín Noonan, Ciara McCarthy (both second year) and Aoife O’Callaghan (first year) are pictured with their project “Does Wisdom Come With Age?” for the recent Limerick SciFest. Their investigation focused on whether people were influenced by outside factors and whether different age groups would respond differently to a same question. The project won a trophy in the Maths and Science category of the competition.
