3rd Year Options 2021

Normally at this time of year we would meet with all the 3rd year students and their parents to discuss the next steps in their educational progress. Unfortunately this year due to the ongoing pandemic it is not possible to meet in the usual way.

Below you will find a video outlining the options available to 3rd years as they progress to Senior Cycle.

Mr Burke will be in touch with the parents of the 3rd year classes in the coming days to outline the steps that need to be taken to select a course for Senior Cycle

Dave Clancy – Guest Speaker

5th year LCPE had a guest speaker recently Limerick native Dave Clancy is the head rugby coach in University of California, Los Angeles, and took some time out of his day to speak to our students about his role as a coach.

Philippines Typhoon

“Photos and appreciation from the Philippines for the money that students collected in Hazelwood on non-uniform day before Christmas. The families were given money to help them recover after typhoons wrecked their village. “

Busy Day

A busy day again with hot chocolate and treats for the senior students and online panto time (Oh yes it is) for the juniors. Special thanks to Ms Devine and Ms Cotter for all of your efforts to make sure that, against all odds ,2020 was our most festive year yet

Science Quiz

Congratulations to the winners of the Science quiz who received their prizes today. Well done to Donnchadh Stritch, Eoin Sweeney, Heather Daly and missing from the picture is Africa Domingo

Textile Projects

Talented 2nd year Home Economics students were busy putting the finishing touches to their Christmas themed CBA1 textile projects. Their creative projects are on display in school at the moment for all to admire.

Team up for Theo

Hazelwood College students and staff were asked to “Team up for Theo” and the generous support must be applauded. A total of €350 was raised by selling tickets for a Christmas hamper raffle. TY students Katie Coughlan, Maedhbh Magner, Hannah Cremin along with the support of their teachers Ms. Brosnan and Mr. Noonan.
Lucky students Eoin O’Brien TY3 and Dylan Duggan 2A were winners of the Christmas hampers. While Mr. Burke, Chloe Falvey 5A, Ms. Davis and Ms. Devine were winners of a luxury chocolate biscuit cake.

Decorate-a-door Competition

It certainly is a Christmas with a difference this year.. and it’s no different at school. This year having a base classroom for the first time has allowed for great teamwork and creativity. For Christmas each class group has decorated their door in the hopes of winning the Decorate-a-door competition. The competition is heating up and the classes are outdoing each other each day… with a week to judging the pressure is on ..,, Watch this Space …. don’t forget each member of the class must be represented on the door

Well we were blown away by the creativity, teamwork and festive spirit shown by all of our students and staff in a year where the magic of Christmas is needed more than ever !! Fr O Dea is in the building for the judging … what a task he has ahead of him. Have you a favourite ??

Christmas Cake

Festive cakes and bakes were the order of the day with Hazelwood College’s LCA 6 & TY’s Home Economics students. Whipping up some festive cheer was easy as students presented their show-stopping fruit cakes topped with marizpan and royal icing along with rich chocolate biscuit cake puddings.
