2009 Six Nations Rugby for Hazelwood Teacher

VEC Teachers play a starring role in 2009 Six Nations Rugby Championship

Two Co. Limerick Teachers, Jeannette Feighery, Colaiste Mhuire, Askeaton and Louise Beamish, Hazelwood College Dromcollogher, recently represented their Country in the 2009 Six Nations Rugby Championship.
Jeannette who has been capped for Ireland 19 times, was the top try scorer for Ireland in the 2006 World Cup. She plays rugby with her club, UL Bohemians RFC and Munster and has three All-Ireland League titles with UL Bohs, one interprovincial with Munster, one Intervarsity and League with UL, and has participated in the Six nations 2007 and European Championships 2008. Louise Beamish, who also plays with her club, UL Bohs and Munster, has been involved in the six nations for the past eight years. She is the proud holder of 38 caps for Ireland and has played in 2 world cups, 2 European Championships and one European Sevens Tournament.

There is a very strong tradition of rugby in Limerick and Munster and it is no great surprise that such great players emerge from a province and County immersed in sport. We congratulate Jeannette and Louise on their outstanding achievements to date and look forward with the knowledge that they will indeed be leading lights for some time to come in the field of rugby in Limerick, Munster and indeed Internationally.
