Hazelwood College fifth year Art student Ellie Stone was one of the 300 entries in the ‘Doodle for Google’ Competition, which drew thousands of entries, to be accepted into the second stage of the competition. She is pictured her with her Art teacher, Ms Maria Curtin (left) and Principal, Mr Brendan Burke (right) with a certificate for her success. Ellie will progress in the competition and hopes to make it into the next stage, of the top seventy five entries.

Limerick City Gallery of Art

Hazelwood College senior cycle art students are pictured in the course of the visit to the recently. During their fieldtrip to Limerick City the group visited both the Limerick City Gallery and the Hunt Museum. Day Care Centre

Hazelwood College Arts Committee, lead by 5th year student Andrew Cussen, present acheque of €500.00 to Dromcollogher Day Care Centre. The money is the proceeds of the recent Arts Exhibition which was held in Dromcollogher recently.

Successful New Beginning’s Arts Exhibition

Congratulations to Mrs Corkery and Mr O’Connor on their hugely successful Arts Exhibtion. The Community Hall in Dromcollogher was full to capacity with an enthusastic crowd.

On display was a large variety of class and state examination pieces from Mrs Corkery and Ms. Curtin’s Art classes. The English department led by Mr. O’Connor displayed a selection of poetry and literature from throughout the school.

The Arts Committee recieved a large number of contributions from the local Primary Schools, these students were presented with Certificate’s of Excellence.

The Arts Committee have been working towards opening the schools first ever arts exhibition, exhibiting art works and literature by various students of Hazelwood. Prizes and Awards will be received by students on the night. Not to be missed and all are welcome. Doors will open at 7pm on Thurs 26th January. Entry fee is 2 Euro with all proceeds going to Dromcollogher Day Care Centre. Please support.

“New Beginnings”

Hazelwood College Art Department will be running an Art Exhibtion entitiled “New Beginnings” in the Community Hall Dromcollogher on Thursday 26th January from 7pm

On display will be Artwork and Literature of various talented students from Hazelwood.

The cost of entry on the night will be €2 with all proceeds going to Dromcollogher Day Care Centre.

Junk Kouture National Finalist

On Sunday last in Clonmel, three second year students from Hazelwood College were crowned Regional Winners of the Junkkouture Recycled Fashion Show. The costume Metallic Monster, modelled by Grace Morey and created by Grace, Chloe O’Connell and Catherine Corbett beat off stiff competition and will now go on to the National Finals which will be held in the Burlington Hotel, Dublin in two weeks time. The final will be judged by Paul Galvin and will be broadcast on TV3’s Xpose. Many thanks to all who voted for the girls. Voting lines are open once again and we would urge people to keep voting.
