History Students to tour Poland
History Students to tour Poland
Pictured are Hazelwood College senior history students will fly to Poland to experience their history syllabus first hand later this year. In the course of the tour students will follow the progress of the holocaust – the most infamous example of genocide in history. Students will tour the ghetto and later the notorious concentration camp of Auschwitz where they will see the possessions of the victims who met their deaths there. Students will also go on a walking tour of Krakow and see sites such as Wawel Cathedral.Students are pictured with history teacher Mr Mc Cormack.
First Aid Course
The Transition Year Class will begin their certified First Aid Course on Thursday 27th September. The course will last for approximatly ten weeks after which the students will be examined and certified
Othello
The Leaving Certificate 2 higher level english class will travel to Fermoy Community Centre on Thursday 27th September to see Othello by William Shakespeare. This performance is by the Janus Theatre Company.
Science Writers Award for Hazelwood College Students
Science Writers Award for Hazelwood College Students
Two Hazelwood College students have been successful in this years Irish Science Writers Competition. Second year students Breda Larkin and Maura Flanagan were selected for awards by the Royal Dublin Society. Maura was awarded a highly commended certificate in the prestigious competition while Breda was placed second nationally in the junior division. Breda was presented with her award by Minister for Education Mary Hannafin in Dublin last week.
English Peotry Workshops
On Friday 21st September the Transition Years and Leaving Certificate Classes will participate in English poetry workshops in preparation for their State Examinations

Ballyloughran OEC
The Transition Year Group will travel to Ballyloughran OEC on Tuesday 11th September as part of the introduction to Transition Year. While their they will participate in Team Building exercises.Ballyloughran Centre is owned and run by Limerick Youth Service and is situated at Lisselton, about three miles from Ballybunion in picturesque North Kerry.
Safe Pass Course
The students from Leaving Certificate 1, Leaving Certificate Apllied 1 and Transition Year who plan to conduct their work experience in the construction industry will participate in the nationally recognised Safe Pass course on Friday 7th September
