Hazelwood College unveils plaque in honour of the O’Kelly Family

A plaque honouring the contribution made by the O’Kelly family to the
education of the young people of Dromcollogher was recently unveiled
at Hazelwood College. In his speech during the unveiling, School
Principal Liam Lenihan paid tribute to Tess O’Kelly  and the manner in
which she was not only willing to sell her property at Kells Cross to
the VEC but that she was delighted to be in a position to secure the
future of 2nd level education in Dromcollogher. He also acknowledged
that Tess O’Kelly represents all that is good in the people of the
area and that her generosity was given without expectation of reward.
As a result of this good will and generosity generations of students
and teachers will continue to enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
