Hazelwood College Blaze a Trail of Basketball Brilliance

On 15 January, Hazelwood College’s girls’ basketball teams both started 2013 with success. The Girls’ Senior Basketball team played against Presentation School in Limerick City. The team clearly had rid themselves of any Christmas cobwebs when they went up against an experienced Presentation team. Hazelwood’s defending and shooting were excellent .By half time Hazelwood were up by 20 points. After the expected Presentation fight back, Hazelwood continued to garner scores, keeping a healthy lead throughout the second half. In the end the final score was 43 – 26.

On the same day, in the Limerick School Cadet Girls League, Hazelwood’s Cadets travelled to St Nessain’s in Limerick City. The Cadets faced the challenge of living up to the senior girls with ease. After a storming performance in the first half, Hazelwood were thirty points up by half time. By half time they were up by 15 points. Throughout the second half, Hazelwood and St Nessain’s engaged in a tit for tat battle. Hazelwood kept their composure and ensured that at the game’s end, Hazelwood were ahead 44-10.
