The Leaving Cert Applied 1 class will be travelling to Kilfinane Outdoor Education Centre on the 29th and 30th September. This trip provides the new class with an oppourtunity to bond together as a group. While there they will take part in a number of activites including Rockclimbing, Hillwalking, Canoeing and Orienteering.

Limerick Senior Hurling Schools ‘A’ Quarter Final Results

Thursday 25th September

Hazelwood College, Dromcollogher met CBS Doon in the Limerick Senior Hurling Schools ‘A’ Quarter Final.

Coached by Conor Murphy a strong Hazelwood side won the game on a scoreline of 3-15 to 2-9. There were outstanding performances from Jamie Coughlan (1-9), Tadgh O’Flynn and Henry O’Gorman. They will now
go on to meet Hospital in the semi final.

Study Skills

This year the exam classes are divided up on the following dates to take part in study skills courses. This year the second years will also participate in the courses to help develop the skills required for study earlier in their education.

Tuesday September 30th – 2nd Years

Wednesday 1st October – 3rd Years

Tuesday 7th October – Leaving Certificate Ordinary Level English Students

Thursday 9th October – Leaving Certificate Higher Level English Students

Junior Cert Woodwork Projects 2008

Here is a selection of Junior Certificate woodwork projects submitted as part of the State Exams. Students must design one project from a choice of six (three higher level and three ordinary). The projects is submitted with a book outlining the research, designing and manufacturing processes the students undertook while creating their piece. Together the book and the project is worth up to 66%. The selection shown shows both higher and ordinary level projects

Projects

Below are the projects submitted by the Leaving Certificate Construction Studies class as part of their State Examinations. Each project is accompanied with a book containing details of the design process, research and experiments undertaken by the students in designing and building their project.

County Champions !

Hazelwood College had an easy win over Rathkeale in the Under 14 Championship. They held Rathkeale scoreless in the first half scoring a total of 2 goals and 9 points. Jerry Lane excelled catching two high balls from Barry Lynch and putting the ball in the net each time. Billy Naughton (Captain) who lead by example with a personal tally of 2-6 was outstanding. Rathkeale only scored 1 goal with Hazelwood finishing deserved winners with a impressive total of 6-17.

Hazelwood College Drains School GAA pitch

After five years of playing in the mud Hazelwood College has decided to drain the schools G.A.A field. The work has been facilitated by a grant of €20,000 from Limerick County Council and is being undertaken by Adrian Hogan Ltd. The project is being overseen by PE instructor Mr. Conor Murphy. Pictured are School Principal Mr Liam Lenihan and Deputy Principal Mr Michael Cregan on site with one of Mr Hogans machines.
