Congratulations to the Under 19 soccer team on progressing to the Semi- final of the Senior Challenge Cup.

Calendar Amendment

In an amendment to the school calendar 2017-18 Hazelwood College will be closed on Friday 16th March 2018.

This is to facilitate the Department of Education and Science sanctioned school closure for in-service on the new Child Protection Guidelines for all staff.

The month of March now reads as:

Thursday 8^th March Staff meeting no homework or evening study

Wednesday 14^th March Staff meeting no homework or evening study

Friday 16^th March DES In-service Child Protection. School Closed for all students

Monday 19^th March Bank holiday

Wednesday 21^st March 6^th and LCA 2 Parent / Teacher meeting, no homework or evening study

Friday 23^rd March Easter holidays

On Thursday next, March 8th, Transition Year and first year students from Hazelwood College will be displaying and selling their Mini Company products. These range from personalised gifts, candles, hlf-zips, bobble hats, cookies, sweets and lots more. A fantastic opportunity to plan ahead from birthdays…and of course Mother’s Day is approaching! This exciting event commences at 10.30 am and runs until 1.30pm..Spread the word.

School Opening

Hazelwood College would like to confirm, due to the improved weather conditions, classes will resume as scheduled tomorrow Monday 5th March 2018.

Road Safety

Road Safety Authority -Shuttle Exhibition.

Hazelwood was delighted to welcome the RSA Shuttle to the school recently where Senior Students and staff alike faced the harsh reality of life on our roads.

What can you do on the Shuttle?

practice your driving and hazard perception skills on our simulators (car, motorbike, bicycle)
enjoy a fully interactive road safety educational experience
experience simulated virtual situations in our virtual reality pods and experience first-hand the dangers of driving and texting and driver fatigue
practice safe cycling skills on our state of the art bicycle simulator
See how driving environments and speed affect your braking distances on the brake reaction timer
practice the driver theory test on board
Test your fancy footwork by dancing to the Safe Cross Code in the activity zone
Take a road safety quiz in the activity zone
Learn about tyre safety. Remember, your tyres are the only contact with the road

School Closure

In line with the instruction issued today by the Minister for Education, Hazelwood College will remain closed tomorrow Thursday and Friday.

All evening study and homework study is cancelled for this evening.

The school will reopen on Monday 5th March.

Weather Advisory

Hazelwood College would like to advise parents and students that in the event of the school closing due to adverse weather conditions the notification will be posted on the school website and on school Facebook page …here… and school twitter account …here…

The Transition Years who took on the hill at Ballinruane, Kilmeedy as part of their PE class.

Hazelwood Goes Orange

Hazelwood recently glowed orange in an effort to raise awareness of Mental Heath Issues and to promote help seeking behaviour. Armed with the slogan “Its Ok not to feel OK; and its absolutely OK to ask for help”, students and staff dressed in orange and engaged it well being activities ranging from a Cycle-athon (In a bid to cycle against Suicide) to a Yoga workshop.
