Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY)

Recently Hazelwood College students collected money through a non-uniform day. €450 was donated to the Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) charity, which arranges screenings of those considered at risk from cardiac arrest. Hazelwood College students present Deirdre Downey, of Irish Sudden Infant Cot Death Association, with a cheque of €450 after their non-uniform day (left to right) Kelly Doody, Ciara Purcell, Deirdre Downey, Antony Mckenzie, Eoin Donegan and Principal Brendan Burke. Hazelwood College students were canvassed to find out which charities they wanted to donate the proceeds to and the students chose to split the money collected between the Irish Sudden Infant Cot Death Association and CRY.

Lios Na Si Broadford Community Child Care Centre

Hazelwood College second year Home Economics students visited Lios Na Si Broadford Community Child Care Centre to learn about child development and education for their Junior Certificate Home Economics projects. As a token of appreciation from the students who participated in the visit, Edel Curtis (left), of Lios Na Si Broadford, was presented with a thank you card and buns on behalf of the staff from Shania Hanlon (centre) and Brigid Kiely (right).
