2nd Years Launch Websites

As part of their computers class, 2nd years have each made a website on a topic of interest to them.

To create these websites they had to learn their way through the Google Apps Suite of programs to edit and develop their sites.

They learned how to develop, structure and publish their websites. To give them some added features they learned also how to use Picassa Web Albums to incorporate slideshows in their sites.

Currently they have just set up Google Analytics to help them understand how people interact and use their sites. They will then use this information to improve the stites and add more relevant information to your needs. Please visit their sites and come back often so they can tailor and expand their websites.

Hazelwood College Excitement for Science Week 2011!

Hazelwood College Excitement for Science Week 2011!

Science Week Ireland 2011 was celebrated at Hazelwood with the Primary School’s Science Quiz on Thursday night, November 17th. Local primary schools were invited to attend this exciting event to promote Science Week. It was wonderful to welcome all of the primary school pupils, teachers, parents and friends who attended on the night.

Most appreciative thanks must be extended to our generous sponsors, who helped in making this a superb event. Thank you to Clarke’s Books, Munster Business Equipment of Mallow, Moran’s Clothing and Footwear of Charleville and Fitzsimon’s Printers.

During ten rounds of questioning all of the primary pupils thoroughly impressed us with their teamwork and knowledge. Spectacular lucky dip spot prizes and tasty refreshments were very popular among the eager pupils at the half time break. As the end of the quiz came close, excitement was high as the top three placed teams became apparent. Congratulations to Killoughteen National School who were overall winners, with Dromina coming in second place and Gael Scoil O’ Doghair in third place. Thank you and well done to all the teams from Raheenagh, Dromina, Broadford, Feenagh, Tullylease, Ballingarry, Freemount, Killoughteen National Schools and Gaelscoil O Doghair who took part on the night and we look forward to seeing you next year!

An t-Ionad Glas Organic College are inviting everyone along to the Dromcollogher Organic Picnic on Sunday 11th of September. The picnic takes place from 12 noon to 4pm and admission is free. The event is organised to co-celebrate the beginning of National Organic Week and the 20thanniversary of the Organic College.

It will be a great day out for families with lots of things on offer from nature detectives, face painting, petting animals for kids and a host of free talks on organic gardening, native trees, vintage threshing, bee keeping and herbs to name but a few. The aim of the event is to raise awareness about organic food and farming. There will be fantastic organic food on the day with a host of excellent producers being showcased. Dr. Sinead Neiland event coordinator said “There has been a fantastic response from everyone here at the college and past students who want to celebrate all that is positive about organic food and we are all looking forward to a fantastic day out for all”.
